Do I need a partner?
NO. At Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Princeton, NJ we teach both singles and couples. If you join us as a single student, your instructor will take the place of your partner for your private dancing lessons. Our group classes and practice sessions provide plenty of opportunities for single students to meet others with the same interests and goals.
How can I get a free dance lesson?
If you refer a friend, family member, colleague, etc. who enrolls in one of our Beginner Dance Lesson programs, you will be awarded a free dance lesson! Also, throughout the year, different promotions are offered. Ask your instructor for details.
What is a Group Dance Lesson?
A group dance lesson consists of several students learning from one instructor. Students concentrate primarily on the basic steps and technique. We have a variety of group dance classes from beginner to advanced so everyone can participate. Check out our dance studio calendar to find this month’s schedule.
What is a Practice Session?
A Practice Session is an opportunity for students to practice what they have learned in a comfortable, friendly, and social environment. Our practice sessions are typically held every other Friday of the month and students attend to have fun, learn, and dance with others. Please check out our dance lesson calendar for times.
What is a Guest Party?
A guest party allows our students to introduce their friends and family to the world and benefits of dancing lessons! A qualified guest is someone who is at least 18 years of age, lives within a 25 mile radius, and could benefit from dance lessons. During the night our instructors and students will perform, demonstrating the various levels of dance we teach.
What do we teach?
Our goal as a dance studio is to prepare you to dance with confidence in any social situation. Our curriculum consists of several basic dances that will allow you to dance anywhere, with anyone, on any occasion! The most common dances are Salsa, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, and Hustle.
How should I dress for my lesson?
Wear something comfortable that won’t inhibit your movements. Of course, comfortable shoes are recommended! We suggest a pair of leather-soled shoes; no sneakers or rubber-soled shoes. For the ladies we suggest a low heel shoe with a back. Ballroom dance shoes are available for purchase at our studio for your convenience.
Is it difficult to learn to dance?
NO. Most people believe that they have two left feet, but we believe that anyone can learn to feel comfortable and have fun on the dance floor! Our trophy system of instruction makes it easy to learn. It will take time to learn the various dances and a repertoire of steps. However, the learning is easy and fun. A steady approach with periodic practice will produce visible results in a short period of time.
