The Fred Astaire Dance Lesson Trophy System
At Fred Astaire of Princeton, NJ we teach ballroom and Latin dancing lessons utilizing the Fred Astaire Trophy System. It is a unique method of dance instruction that allows you to gauge your progress in dancing in an exciting way. This system was developed to accommodate all levels of dancers – from social to competitive. With this proven structure, our students advance through all programs in succession to reach their individual goals. We offer adult dance lessons as well as junior dance lessons.
The Fred Astaire Trophy System has been approved by the National Dance Counsel Of America (NDCA) which has over 30 United States and World Champion professionals. So if you wish to become a confident social dancer or a national competitor we have the programs, instructors and dance lessons to help you reach your goals.
Introductory Program – This Dance Lesson program is designed to introduce students to Fred Astaire Dance School and give them confidence in our methods of teaching.
Beginner Program – A great way to learn some of the basic elements of dance, the different tempos of music, and to get an understanding of what dancing can do for you. This is our first stepping stone in teaching students how to become confident and comfortable social dancers.
Social Foundation Program – Once there is an understanding of the basics, you will have a chance to design a personalized plan with the instructor to fit your lifestyle, fulfill your dance desires, and enjoy some of the wonderful benefits dance lessons have to offer. You will also learn the fundamentals of a good lead as a man or following factors as a lady which will enable you to “Hold Your Own” in any given social dance situation..This dance lesson program also provides an excellent stepping stone to our next level of instruction – the Bronze Program.
Bronze Program – The Bronze Dance Lesson level contains the perfect blend of style, technique and versatility of the most popular dances. It allows our students to “cement” their knowledge of dance so they may use it throughout the rest of their lives. Social Bronze Dancers learn a wide variety of steps while improving their appearance, partnership, and expression. In a short period of time, the Bronze student gains poise and confidence which enables them to dance with any partner to a variety of music. Dancesport Bronze dancers understand all the social aspects but continue on the road to dancing proficiency as they learn the techniques of exhibition styling. This enhances their social dancing and prepares them to enter the competitive arena with a wealth of dancing knowledge.
Silver Program – The Silver Dance Lesson Program creates dancers that are distinguished by versatility and style on social and competitive dance floors. A Silver level dancer is extremely exciting to watch. The patterns are more intricate and are designed to flow across the floor, giving more flair, style, and expression to each dance. Silver dancers will look and feel like exhibition dancers to the people who watch them perform. They also have a greater sense of confidence, more self-expression, and an enhanced sense of movement as they dance.
Gold Program– The Gold Dance Lesson Program is our highest level of ballroom dancing. Gold dancers have an extensive knowledge of technique and have the ability to use the elements to create their own patterns. They have the confidence which comes with the complete and thorough knowledge of all the major ballroom dances. Advanced style and poise in all of the dances sets the Gold dancer apart from all others.
Open Routine Program – These programs can be used in conjunction with any of the above Trophy Programs. Here, our students can build their own “dance personality” while working to advance their knowledge of the elements and technique. This is an extremely useful addition to the students’ programs because it teaches them to utilize all of their skills.
Coaching Lessons – Our coaching Dance lessons provide the students with a chance to work with the top United States and World Champions. The coaches help with preparing for competitions, choreographing exhibition routines, and sharing their extensive teaching expertise to enhance our students’ ability on the dance floor.
